1. What Is a KBLI Code?
KBLI (Klasifikasi Baku Lapangan Usaha Indonesia) is Indonesia's standard industrial classification, published by Statistics Indonesia (BPS). Every business activity in OSS, the government's licensing system, is tied to a 5-digit code, and your NIB (Business Identification Number) lists the codes your company may operate under. The current version is KBLI 2025, set by BPS Regulation No. 7 of 2025.
2. Why the Code Matters for a PT PMA

Choosing the wrong code is one of the most common and expensive mistakes: it can block foreign ownership, multiply your investment plan, or add reports you didn't need.
3. What Changed in KBLI 2025
OSS switched to KBLI 2025 in mid-June 2026. Many codes stayed the same, but several that foreign investors use often were renumbered, merged or split:

4. Already Registered? What Happens to Your Old Codes
- One-to-one changes (such as 62029 → 62209) were converted automatically in OSS, and licences issued under the old code remain valid.
- Split codes (such as 46900 → 46901 / 46902) need a decision: the company has to choose which new code matches what it actually does.
- Removed codes (such as 47914) need a new code that fits the goods you sell — and a check that the new code is open to foreign ownership.
Changing or adding activities can also mean updating your deed's business purposes and your LKPM reporting, so treat it as a small compliance project rather than a click in OSS.
5. How Investment Is Counted per Code
The IDR 10 billion investment plan is measured per 5-digit KBLI per project location, with these exceptions under BKPM Regulation No. 5 of 2025:
- Wholesale trade and construction: counted per 4-digit KBLI group
- Food and beverage: counted per 2-digit KBLI per regency or city
- Tech start-ups in Special Economic Zones: may invest IDR 10 billion or less

6. How to Choose Your Codes
- List what the company will actually do and earn revenue from.
- Match each activity to its KBLI 2025 code — not an old 2020 code from an outdated guide.
- Check the Positive Investment List for foreign-ownership limits on each code.
- Count the investment plan each code adds (per code and per location).
- Keep the list short: every activity adds licensing and a quarterly LKPM report.
