Quick answer: Registering a PT PMA (foreign-owned company) with IndoDesk costs from USD 1,400, including the government fees for the notarial deed, Ministry of Law approval (SK AHU), NIB and NPWP. Add a virtual office from USD 150 a year and you can get started from about USD 1,550. An Investor KITAS is from USD 1,200, family permits are USD 800 per person, and ongoing tax and compliance support is from USD 300 a month. Separately, the company needs at least IDR 2.5 billion (about USD 140,000) of paid-up capital. That is not a fee: it is your own money, paid into the company's Indonesian bank account after incorporation and spent on your business.

1. Fees vs Your Own Capital

Most confusion about PT PMA costs comes from mixing two kinds of money. Fees pay for registration, permits and support, and do not come back. Capital belongs to the company, which belongs to its shareholders.

Nothing has to be paid in before the company exists. Once its Indonesian bank account is open, the IDR 2.5 billion is deposited and proof is filed with the Ministry of Law. The money must stay in the company account for at least 12 months and may only be spent on assets, construction or operations: it is the company's working money, not a cost of registration. The investment plan is realised over time and reported through LKPM reports, not deposited upfront. Our PT PMA minimum capital guide explains the rules in detail.

Two more items are your own money, and both matter only for an Investor KITAS:

  • A shareholding of at least IDR 10 billion. The applicant must personally hold shares worth at least IDR 10 billion (about USD 555,000) in the PT PMA. A company at the IDR 2.5 billion minimum does not, on its own, qualify its owner.
  • Proof of funds of USD 2,000 in a 3-month personal bank statement: a balance you show, not a payment.

2. What IndoDesk's Registration Fee Includes

IndoDesk's PT PMA registration service starts from USD 1,400 and takes 7–8 working days once your documents are ready (full steps in our PT PMA registration guide). It includes the government fees for each step:

  • Deed of establishment, signed before an Indonesian notary, setting out shareholders, management and share capital.
  • SK AHU (Ministry of Law approval), which makes the PT PMA a legal entity.
  • NIB through OSS, the master business identification number and licence.
  • NPWP, the company's 16-digit tax number in the Coretax system.

Not included: a registered address (virtual office), any KITAS, document costs in your home country, compliance work after registration, and the capital itself. If your activity needs more than the NIB under OSS risk-based licensing, that is confirmed in your quote after we check your KBLI 2025 codes.

3. One-Time Setup Costs

IDR amounts are official government fees. Conversions use about IDR 18,000 per USD.

4. Yearly Running Costs

Once the company exists, it has filings to make whether or not it is trading.

ItemCostNotes
Virtual office renewalFrom USD 150 per yearKeeps your registered address

Corporate income tax22% of taxable profitPartial rate cut if turnover is up to IDR 50 billion
Statutory auditOnly if assets or turnover reach IDR 50 billionNot required below that

The filings are not optional. LKPM investment reports go through OSS every quarter, due 15 April, 15 July, 15 October and 15 January, from NIB issuance, even before the company operates; missed reports lead to warnings, then suspension with an administrative fine, and finally revocation of the business licence (see our LKPM report guide). The annual GMS approves the annual report within 6 months of year-end, and the report is filed with the Ministry of Law. The annual corporate tax return is due 30 April through Coretax.

Two budgeting tips: the 0.5% final MSME tax is closed to newly registered PT PMAs (Government Regulation 20/2026), so plan on the standard corporate rate. And a 2-year Investor KITAS (official fee IDR 9,500,000) avoids the year-one extension and its in-person visit; we recommend a passport valid for 30+ months.

5. Three Example First-Year Budgets

These use IndoDesk's starting prices and a 1-year Investor KITAS, so treat the totals as a floor, not a quote. Your exact figure depends on your documents, activity and nationality.

  • "Solo" means one working founder. A PT PMA needs at least two shareholders (individuals or companies), one director and one commissioner; the second shareholder can be a company you own. Third-party document costs from section 3 come on top.
  • Founder A runs the company from abroad and visits on a C2 (meetings and market research only, no paid work) or a Visa on Arrival if eligible. Banks normally want a director in person and many ask for a KITAS first, so check the bank route early.
  • Founders B and C need no separate visit visa: the KITAS e-Visa is used to enter.
  • The compliance retainer is optional; without it, budget for your own accountant.

6. How the PT PMA + KITAS Bundle Saving Works

Book company registration and the Investor KITAS together and IndoDesk's combined fee is at least 20% lower than booking them separately. The PT PMA sponsors your KITAS, so one team runs both files: once the company is registered, it files your e-Visa online. After approval, your electronic ITAS and re-entry permit are issued at the border on arrival, so one trip is enough.

The saving applies to IndoDesk's service fees, not to the capital rules or third-party costs at home. The exact bundle price is quoted on request after a document check; ask for family permits to be included. Decide on the KITAS before the deed is signed: the IDR 10 billion shareholding has to be built into the share capital, and changing it later means a paid deed amendment.

7. Costs That Vary: What to Plan For

These costs are real but depend on your situation. Where IndoDesk is involved, they are quoted after a document check.

  • Documents at home. The number to apostille depends on your shareholders and directors. Pakistan and India are Apostille members, so no embassy legalisation is needed; UAE documents need consular legalisation. Some documents also need sworn translation into Bahasa Indonesia. A rejected document is paid for twice, so IndoDesk reviews everything before submission.
  • Bank account. A director or authorised signatory normally attends in person, and many banks want the director's KITAS first. Budget for the trip and your bank's charges.
  • Office space. If your activity needs real premises, rent depends on the city and the space.
  • Staff. Salaries and mandatory social security contributions depend on who you hire. Foreign staff, and founders below the Investor KITAS shareholding, usually need a work KITAS (E23) with an RPTKA, quoted separately.
  • Extra licences. Some higher-risk activities need more than the NIB; we check this against your KBLI codes before you sign.
  • Travel. Flights and hotels for setup trips. Since 29 May 2025, every KITAS extension requires an in-person immigration visit.
